Painting (Interior and Exterior) Contractor--Class "P" – BOE1B
Painting (Interior and Exterior) Category–Class “P”: The scope of work of a Class “P” specialty building contractor shall include and be limited to the application of paint and related liquid or viscous products, by brush, roller, or spray methods to interior and exterior surfaces, including roofs, in such a manner that, under an agreed specification, satisfactory painting can be accomplished either on inside or outside surfaces; and cleaning, caulking, priming, and sizing of surfaces in preparation for such work. The scope of work of a Class “P” specialty building contractor shall not include waterproofing. In order to be eligible to be certified as a Class “P” specialty building contractor by the board, the applicant shall have at least one (1) year of practical experience in the category.
The Painting (Interior and Exterior) Contractor–Class “P” examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a two (2) hour, open book exam that consists of 50 questions.
