Cabinetry Category – Class “CB” – DHE1B
Cabinetry Category–Class “CB”: The scope of work of a Class “CB” specialty building contractor shall include and be limited to the fabrication and installation of wood cabinets, countertops, bookshelves, and shelving. A Class “CB” specialty building contractor shall be allowed to subcontract with other licensed contractors for work directly related to the work set forth below, but which falls within the scope of another licensed trade:
(1) Electrical: directly related to the cabinetry work, removal and/or installation of receptacles, lights, switches, and wiring of appliances.
(2) Plumbing: directly related to the cabinetry work, removal and/or installation of sinks, faucets, and all fixtures or appliances.
(3) Mechanical: directly related to the cabinetry work, removal and/or installation of ducts and vent pipes for equipment.
(4) Ceramic tile: directly related to the cabinetry work.
(5) Gas: directly related to the cabinetry work, including liquefied petroleum and natural gas systems.
(6) Windows: directly related to the cabinetry work, involving existing openings, which are contiguous to the cabinetry work.
In order to be eligible to be certified as a Class “CB” specialty building contractor, the applicant shall have at least two (2) years of practical experience in the category.
The Cabinetry Category – Class “CB” examination is based on trade-specific information pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, practices, terminology, and relevant laws. The examination is a two (2) hour, open book exam that consists of 50 questions.
